Karmøy Skipsconsult (KSC) is a key strategic partner to Vestervind, adding top-tier engineering capacity directly into our projects. With senior naval architects and multi-discipline engineers, KSC accelerates design cycles, de-risks execution, and enables safe, efficient and practical marine solutions.
Based on Karmøy and founded in 1977, KSC combines front-end ship design with hands-on yard and field follow-up. As an embedded extension of the Vestervind team, they support the full flow from concept and FEED through mobilisation and documentation.
Our collaboration connects developers and vessel owners with KSC’s strengths—applied specifically to Vestervind’s work:
Concept & FEED for marine operations: Option studies, capability assessments, basis-of-design, HAZID/risk reviews and project maturation for offshore wind and marine operations.
Structure, stability & seafastening: Global/local strength analyses, grillage and seafastening design, padeyes and lift plans, intact/damage stability, and interface with class and MWS.
Conversions & retrofits for Vestervind scopes: Adapting PSV/CSV/SOV/workboats for cable, installation, maintenance and subsea operations—with practical yard follow-up that keeps schedules on track.
Methods, procedures & compliance: Method statements, rigging and lifting procedures, ITP/FAT/SAT, document control and regulatory/class compliance.
Site engineering & inspection: CAD/engineering resources at yard and offshore, inspections, as-built documentation and technical support throughout mobilisation.
Vessel & equipment design for mobilisations: Deck layouts and integration of A-frames, LARS, winches, cranes, modules and power/hydraulics—complete with 3D models, drawings, bills of materials and work packs.
Through this partnership, Vestervind + KSC deliver an integrated, scalable engineering and project team—fewer interfaces, shorter lead times and lower risk—enabling faster mobilisations and safer, more robust results across offshore wind and demanding marine operations.
