Vestervind Contractors and Atlanticeagle Shipbuilding Join Forces to Strengthen Maritime Services and Offshore Wind Supply Chains

Haugesund, Norway / Figueira da Foz, Portugal – May 22, 2025

Vestervind Contractors has entered into a strategic collaboration with Atlanticeagle Shipbuilding, a historic Portuguese shipyard with deep expertise in shipbuilding, ship repair, and offshore support. The partnership aims to strengthen the local maritime supply chain in Portugal to support the country’s emerging offshore wind industry, while also drawing on Atlanticeagle’s capabilities to serve vessel owners with newbuilds, repairs, and operational support.

As part of the agreement, Vestervind will act as Atlanticeagle’s exclusive agent and representative office in Norway, serving as the main point of contact for Norwegian shipowners seeking ship construction and repair services. Over time, both companies plan to expand the collaboration to include engagement with offshore wind developers and Norwegian suppliers involved in renewables and marine operations.

“This partnership allows us to contribute with our experience and competence while adding value to a local supply chain that is fit for purpose,” said Einar Tollaksvik, CEO of Vestervind. “Atlanticeagle’s long-standing expertise in shipbuilding, repair, and offshore operations—combined with their proven track record from the WindFloat Atlantic project—makes them a perfect partner for us.”

Atlanticeagle, strategically located in the port of Figueira da Foz—the focal point of Portugal’s upcoming offshore wind developments—offers specialized capabilities in ship maintenance, steel and aluminum fabrication, and offshore logistics. The company has a rich legacy of building advanced vessels for Norwegian shipowners, a relationship Vestervind is proud to help reinvigorate.

“Norway brings us great memories,” said Bruno Costa, Partner and Manager at Atlanticeagle. “We have built dozens of fishing and support vessels for Norwegian clients—shipowners known for their high standards and deep expertise. This collaboration with Vestervind is a major step toward rebuilding that special relationship. Our goal is to restart both newbuilds and repairs while preparing for the enormous opportunity offshore wind presents. Vestervind brings unmatched insight into that sector, and we see this as the start of a long and successful partnership.”

The collaboration comes at a pivotal moment, as Portugal prepares to launch its first offshore wind auction. Vestervind and Atlanticeagle will jointly offer port services critical to project mobilization and demobilization, as well as the provision of support vessels close to key offshore development zones.

Together, the two companies aim to create a robust and resilient value chain for offshore wind and marine operations in the Atlantic region—anchored in Portugal and powered by Norwegian experience.
